For its client ScioTeq, Jacon Legal is seeking a contract manager to reinforce the entity in Belgium.

ScioTeq is active in Avionics and Air Traffic Control, Defense & Security.

Job description

As Contract Manager, your primary task is contract management.  In this context you will also support sales, after-sales, customer management and procurement (the sourcing cycle).

You will thus:

  • based on our contract templates and policies, review Long Term Contracts, such as Service and Support Agreements, and make sure that they are in compliance with the Corporate guidelines.
  • work on customer and supplier contracts such as bids, purchase orders, contracts with non-recurring engineering, subcontracting and complex support requirements.
  • understand the product strategies and support their implementation.
  • understand and live by ScioTeq’s ethics and business conduct policies.
  • follow up to determine whether contractual performance and customer satisfaction are attained on the level of obligations and customer expectations.
  • participate in customer proposal preparation, including preparation of terms and conditions, compliance matrices and commercial terms.
  • propose solutions to resolve problems in meeting customer requirements.
  • together with Sales or Procurement, participate in contract negotiations with customers as well as subcontract negotiations with suppliers.
  • support the Strategic sourcing activities and participate in the procurement process for complex subcontracted items including preparing requests for proposals and subcontracts.
  • assist the Business Unit Leaders and Sales Management with a focus on the terms and conditions.
  • monitor contractual performance and relationship. For subcontracts, analyze and troubleshoot problems relating to material shortages, capacity constraints and product definition with the Program Manager’s support.
  • follow up compliance with ScioTeq company policies and procedures related to internal accounting, administration, financial processes and reporting
  • link with Operating Unit Legal Counsel, who handles custom-made and complex contracts and with whom you can consult about your files.

    You report to the CFO and can consult with the legal counsel.

Profile

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • To succeed in this position you must be conversant with sound business practices.  You are a genuine business partner who thinks along and takes account of the implications for the company.
  • This position requires an advanced level of knowledge and experience in contract management.  A minimum of 10 years of experience in this field is ideal.
  • To succeed in this position you must have previous experience working with and responding to customers in a fast-paced and complex environment where you handle contracts based on contract templates.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken English.
  • Ability to drive accountability for results within the organization. You assume responsibilities.
  • Effectively manage deadlines while maintaining a best-in-class quality standard for deliverables.
  • Eager to learn, enthusiastic, result-oriented, meticulous and flexible.
  • You are familiar with Excel and not afraid of numbers.
  • You are passionate about getting to know everything about the products.

Nice to have:

  • It is an asset to be conversant with the Defense Market and/or the Aviation business, and specifically the Operation, Maintenance and Support of Aircraft in Business Aviation, Commercial Air Transport and Military aircraft environments, including all of the regulatory environments globally. 
  • You have practical knowledge about  the US Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). 
    If not, you are very interested in learning about this.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in law / business / commerce or engineering, or equivalent.
  • Commensurate professional experience supporting customers and avionics products.
  • Knowledge of and experience in the process of certifying products in Aerospace is another plus.
  • Taking initiatives to further improve the existing contract management system, processes, etc. is highly appreciated.
