Legal Counsel - team mentor (m/v)

As a member of the Legal department you will support the further growth of the Company and of the legal team.

You will help manage the legal risks, and will provide legal advice to the Company’s business lines and support functional departments.

You join a legal team which consists of 3 junior lawyers, 2 senior lawyers, 1 paralegal and you will report to the Head of Legal department.


Your main responsibilities will include:


  1. Legal work 
  • Providing functional support and advice with respect to commercial and business law matters, with a focus on contracts, M&A, corporate governance and housekeeping, legal compliance, financial files and intragroup operations
  • Providing contract drafting and reviewing of all types of legal documents and agreements
  • Managing and following up on litigation and legal procedures


  1. CPOC for the juniors
    You are the central point of contact for the juniors, meaning:
  • You get energy from providing junior lawyers the support they require (by taking initiative or at the specific request of the junior)
  • Based on your own observations and/or on the request of the juniors: discuss and develop the work(flow) of the juniors, and report the possibilities for improvement to the Head of Legal department

You will combine these two responsibilities, which means that you handle legal files and that you get the time and space as CPOC for the junior lawyers.


  • Master’s degree in Law
  • Ideally 8 to 14 years of legal experience in a corporate environment
  • Excellent knowledge of Dutch and English
  • You are a “people person”, who gets energy from helping junior lawyers to grow so that they reach the next level. You have a personality that stimulates your colleagues to reach out for your input.  You are patient by nature and you take the time needed to get the best out of them
  • You love being the sparring partner of the senior lawyers and the head of legal
  • You are a real team player, have a mature personality and can adequately cope with simultaneous requirements
  • Your reliability, flexibility, co-operation and respect for others make sure you can build good relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • You have good communication skills, allowing an easy interface with both legal and non-legal partners
  • Being result oriented, service driven, flexible, hands-on, pro-active and pragmatic, you have the business mind set, are able to evaluate risks and to let go when it occurs that a business decision is not exactly what you had in mind as the ideal approach
  • Able to manage challenging files and cases
